Wave of enthusiasm grows behind Review
19 May 2009
Enthusiasm is building behind the Boorman Review as early figures show that over 6,000 staff from across the Service have already responded to the Staff Survey – offering crucial insight into their perceptions of health and well-being provision in the NHS.
This comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that by popular demand the Review has extended the window for organisations and experts to respond to the Call for Evidence until June 30.
The results of the Staff Survey are a vitally important source of evidence for the Review’s final outcomes, and the Review Team have been quick to welcome the enthusiastic early response rate.
Dr Steve Boorman, who is leading the Review, said: “It’s simply fantastic that so many individual members of staff have recognised how important it is to seize this opportunity to have their say and help improve staff health and well-being right across the NHS.
“We’ve seen everyone from doctors and nurses to reception staff, managers and hospital porters responding to the Staff Survey to date – and we want more"
“I’m asking all those who’ve already taken the short time needed to complete the survey to encourage their friends and colleagues working alongside them to do the same. The survey will close on 5 June 2009, and the more people who respond, the more accurate a picture we can pull together of the type and scale of changes that the Review should recommend.”
As well as the early high response rate to the Staff Survey, the enthusiasm and strength of feeling behind the issues of staff health and well-being have also been apparent at the events at which Steve Boorman has spoken around the country.
The Review events programme continues through the upcoming weeks and months. The Review team will be holding dedicated Evidence Workshops next month, in London (on June 9) and in Leeds (on June 17) – best to register to attend these events now as places are limited.
We will also be following up with events dedicated to considering the Interim Report published this summer, starting with an Open Forum event planned for July 16. More details on that event will follow on the site shortly.
